I haven’t been able to stop listening to Comfort to Me – Amyl and the Sniffers’ second LP – since its release a few days ago. I guess this isn’t too hard to believe since my car rides have consisted of a heavy rotation between their self-titled album, the Jonas Brothers, and the same fifteen or so songs I last added to my “Liked Songs” playlist on Spotify.
I wish I could give you guys a deep and intricate critique of the music I post, but honestly, this isn’t what the blog is about. I like listening to Comfort to Me and that is that.
My favorite songs off of the album play back-to-back, “Choices” being the first. It reminds me of “Control,” my favorite song on their self-titled album. Maybe it’s in the names, or maybe, it’s because they both conjure the same feeling when listening to them. They’re both empowering, especially in those moments when you feel worthless. “Choices” is followed by “Security,” which is just an absolute banger, as the kids say. Then there’s “Hertz,” which epitomizes the feeling of being trapped by your environment and wanting to escape.
