10.10.22: As with every great show, this story ends with an encore. Hammerstein Ballroom is one of the most beautiful concert venues in the city with its ceiling depicting angels in the sky. It was the perfect venue for this gorgeously unique band.

Mother Mother has been making music for a long time so the fans attending the show ranged from full adults to young teens and I saw the same amount of joy and excitement on everyone’s faces as they were singing along. “Friends, family, and music at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City…life is good right now.” Lead singer, Ryan Guldemond, constantly expressed gratitude for the amazing energy in the room. Mother Mother is one of those bands that has a sound you don’t come across often. This, mixed with their welcoming stage presence, is the concoction for a beautiful concert. When introducing Arms Tonite, a personal favorite of mine, Ryan said, “sing it through this beautiful ceiling and into the sky,” and that is what we did. It was so intensely gorgeous hearing that song live and singing it with a crowd full of such accepting people in such a beautiful venue.

Ryan also brought up how aware they all are of the important conversations their music has been a part of, especially in recent times, and they made sure we knew “this is a space where you can be yourself and love who you want to love.” It was just an overwhelmingly amazing night with so much love, passion, and acceptance.
If you get the chance, you won’t want to miss out on it.
