The Maine recently released a set of singles from their upcoming album XOXO: From Love & Anxiety in Real Time – Lips being the last of the three to be released.
In a video for Rock Sound, lead singer John O’Callaghan explains how the instrumentation for Lips was inspired by Tears for Fears’ Break It Down Again. O’Callaghan explains that with the song’s lyrics he wanted to express that there’s a “responsibility that comes with the ability to communicate.” We hold so much power with our words, so we have to be aware of how we use them.
Listen to Lips by The Maine and keep a lookout for their upcoming album XOXO: From Love & Anxiety in Real Time coming July 9th, 2021.
